Well! I’d fully intended to share an update at the beginning of November, and then holiday busy-ness overtook me. Next thing I know, Thanksgiving is in the rearview mirror, and Christmas and New Year are mere weeks away. The editing business has been taking a back burner for the past month or so, but I’ve got my sights set on January! I’ll have a blog post coming in a few weeks talking about my goals and intentions for 2026… one of which includes regular updates here. 😊
By now, I’ve gotten a few more edits under my belt, some of which you can see some on my Portfolio page. I can’t say enough how much I appreciate these designers who’ve taken a chance on a less-experienced editor! It can be a little nerve-wracking putting your pattern in the hands of someone new, and I’m very thankful that they were willing to do so. In some ways, it brings me back to my early days as a new software tester, building relationships with developers and establishing trust and confidence in each other. The best working relationships I had were the ones where we both saw our roles as partners rather than adversaries, two people working from different angles to produce one great product.
In personal news, we hosted Thanksgiving dinner for 10 people at my home this year, which was quite an undertaking! I’m pretty proud of the fact that everything went smoothly and on schedule. OK, so we ran out of butter, and the turkey actually finished cooking an hour earlier than expected, but overall it turned out well. I’m very fortunate to have parents and cousins within reasonable traveling distance, and it’s always a joy when we’re able to gather together and celebrate.
Best wishes for a prosperous New Year to you!
