Currently I offer tech editing for standard crochet patterns, and assistance developing personal style sheets. I’m also happy to do a complimentary meet-and-greet via Zoom if you’d like to chat first before committing. Please contact me for current rates and availability.
Meet-and-Greet
This is a Zoom meeting for up to 30 minutes, to discuss your patterns and how I can help you. We can talk about what degree of editing you’re looking for (technical details only? help with wording? etc.) and the general process of tech editing a pattern. This is a free service so that we can get to know each other a little and decide whether it would be a good fit for us to work together.
Tech Editing
As of Fall 2025, I provide tech editing for beginner- to intermediate-level crochet written patterns and charts, in the following categories:
- Garments/clothing
- Accessories
- Household items
- Amigurumi/stuffed toys (beginner-level only)
In general, I should be able to complete a thorough first check of your pattern within about a week for smaller items, and within two weeks for more complex items.
My submission guidelines page includes more information on the necessary materials I’ll need from you before I can start editing your pattern.
There are a few types of crochet patterns that I do not currently edit, including Tunisian, broomstick/hairpin lace, filet/tapestry/mosaic, and advanced amigurumi. I hope to add some of these services in the future – please reach out to me if you’re interested in working with me in those areas and we can discuss timelines.
Style Sheet Creation
A style sheet is a document describing a designer’s personal preferences for how to present their patterns. It can cover everything from terms and abbreviations to pattern formatting and branding guidelines, and helps both you and your editor to ensure that your patterns are consistent internally as well as across your full portfolio.
I can work with you to build your style sheet, either during a collaborative Zoom meeting or by reviewing sample patterns that you provide. This document isn’t meant to be a written-in-stone set of rules – it’s expected that it will develop and change over time as your personal style evolves. I keep a style sheet on file for all my clients and check for updates each time I take on a new project for them.
